I was knocked out loaded in the naked night
When my last dream exploded, I noticed your light

Poignant song. What inspired this quote?

Oly
Well, it was inspired mainly by the fact that I had been listening to it this morning.... But it also reminds me of the experience many people have of Christian "conversion", and I suspect (although I'm far from certain!) that this might be what Dylan is referring to in the song. He himself experienced a sudden conversion back in the late 70s.
Ben,
Wow, well I am going through a conversion process although I have been a Christian since 1999. That explains why this song hit me so deep! So Dylan became a Christian?
I have a friend who recently moved to Australia. I am going to send her your blog address.
Cheers
Oly
If you're interested, a really good little book on Dylan's faith is Restless Pilgrim: The Spiritual Journey of Bob Dylan (2002).
