Of course, theologians could pray an equivalent prayer: "Help me to believe, not just know what I ought to believe."
Sounds like a marginal note to Romans 7:14ff.
I am glad to see that someone else is reading the Bishop's sermons on the Psalms. I have been working on a thesis in which his commentary on the "Psalms of Ascent" has been crucial. But, more importantly, I have found that set of writing to be some of his very best...
