A glorious wedding

We were recently discussing whether a Christian marriage ought to be sharply different from the usual ho-hum of wedding ceremonies. Well, here’s a wedding with a difference:

I don’t often experience pangs of nostalgia for my old Pentecostal days. But a clip like this brings back all the fond memories… Oh the glory!

I never knew you were at my wedding Ben. There was nothing I could do at that moment but let the glory of da Holy Ghost just take over my whole body ... O glory. Gotta love that glory.

Now, where did that glory go?

maybe his bride has got one of those electric-buzzer-handshake things hidden in her palm....

He's looking forward to the wedding night! Practicing by the sound of it! :)

Yeah that brings back some very scary memories for me also! Man, could I tell you some stories. All we need is a brew and a couple of rocking chairs on a dusty Qld porch!

Ben, I didn't realsie you were once a Pente? Why do ex-Pente's find Barth so appealing?

An argument against the traditional Christian no-sex-before-marriage stance?

I'm a member of a congregation where such scenes are non-existent. No such pentecostal wonders of the Spirit. But I have to wonder if something like this really is "humour". I mean, even though theologically I have my reservations about such happenings of the Spirit, if this is indeed the Holy Spirit, then I'm feeling a bit weird to think of it as funny. Are we laughing at what the Holy Spirit does with this man? Surely if and when God touches a person ridiculing it is a bit weird?
"hahaha look at that flame on your head. hahaha, and what weird languages you speak. hahaha. Looks like you're drunk. Let's send this to America's funniest home videos!"

Hey Pieter, I see what you mean. But apparently the groom himself sent this video to America's Funniest Home Video — and won $10,000 for it! Which makes it hard to believe that he took it seriously as some kind of sacred experience...

If only they had known, the disciples of Jesus could have made a lot of money at pentecostal! :)
