O God of peace
A hymn by Kim Fabricius
(Tune: Sine nomine)
O God of peace, whose peace is Christ your Son,
put on your armour that the war be won,
the war on war, your Word against the gun:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O God of power, whose power appears so weak,
call up your soldiers from among the meek,
who won’t turn tail, but turn the other cheek:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O God of love, whose love casts out all fear,
steady your people when the warlike jeer,
but rather insults than their blood and tears:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O God of hosts, whose host is bread for life,
feed us by faith for strength in times of strife,
and fill with hope the grieving child and wife:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O God of time, whose time is always nigh,
keep us alert to leaders’ lethal lies,
come now your reign when truth will never die:
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Nice. Thanks for this.
Very nice. For those of us who regularly coordinate worship - any objections to us using it (with credit of course!)?
Beautiful. We'll be singing this soon at Saint Mark's.
Hi Miner. Since Kim is away in New York this week, I'll have to speak for him: yes, I know he's very happy for congregations to use his hymns.
Hi Kim,
Great hymn. I get the impression of its progression from incarnation to eschatology. When God of peace will finally reigh. For those of us who is not popular to the Sine nomine tune, is there a way we can listen to the melody? Thanks.
It is the tune to "For all the saints, who from their labours rest". There's a ropey midi version here: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/f/a/fallthes.htm
Beautiful, Kim. Thank you.
Always on the lookout for these kind of hymns. I will share this not only with my congregation, but also with Every Church a Peace Church which is collecting worship resources.
I agree, it's a very nice hymn Kim!
O God with us, whose name shines through the night,
lead all your world from darkness into light,
into your peace and justice, Lord of right:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
