Music on My Mind

Today I met with the Australian theologian Andrew Dutney. He promised he would wear his Karl Barth button – it may well be the greatest thing you've ever seen:

I'm confident Kim F. will offer big money for a replica! (That's if he doesn't own one already).
Cool guy. This is my PhD supervisor!!
Love it! Where can I get one? Or did Andrew have it custom made?
I used to have an "I Love Calvin" tee shirt, red heart and all, which a friend got for me when he was in Geneva. But of course no one, in the UK at least, had the faintest idea that the Calvin I love is the Reformer. If they didn't think I was gay, I suppose they thought I was a Calvin Klein groupie.
I also had a "No One Loves You - Not Even Jesus" tee shirt, with an imposing image of Christ. I wore it once to a large gathering of ministers. Few were amused.
Do they have a "Niebuhr sucks" button to go with it?
Oh, I want one of these sooooo bad!
The funniest one - a bumper sticker here in the U.S. :
"Jesus loves you. Everyone else thinks you're an asshole."
I presume the badge is meant to be read with a lisp
Fantastic, I would expect nothing less from Andrew!
Nice going mate. Now, if we could only get the recalcitrants to actually read KB, that would be good for us all. John Hirt
That's awesomely cool.
That's awesomely cool. I want one.
For the WWJS crowd... : Was würde Karl dazu sagen?
Q: Was würde Karl dazu sagen?
A: Jesus liebt die kliene Bastarde
Were you in Adelaide?
Hi Mark - I don't know if you are addressing that question to me, but if so, the answere is yes; 1986 - 1990.
But as for me: No, I've still never been to Adelaide!
Oh, and I forgot to answer the queries above: unfortunately this is a one-of-a-kind button; it was made by one of his students. But if anyone has one of those button-making machines, it would be great to do up a batch...
I'm embarrassed to say I've read little Barth. It's my list. Right now I'm tackling a 5-volume Summa Theologica. This button makes me want to switch to Barth! Or make a button, "Read More Aquinas, you arse!"
Read More LUTHER, you *damned* fools!
I know that the CD is a must, but I have to say that even reading smaller doses of Barth is a real treat. I just finished reading Barth's lectures on Homiletics, & they were both arresting and unsettling. Might be my favorite "mini" Barth work.
Why not read them ALL? but Barth... he'll intoxicate you with Jesus like no one else!!
Sorry Paul it was a question for Ben! ;)
I posted this over on the T&T Clark blog. Today Emil Brunner left a comment: "No!"
