Our friend Halden has started
a new meme. I’ll try to have a go at this soon. If you want to join in, you need to describe the most problematic aspect of the work of your favourite theologian – i.e., you need to subject yourself to a sort of theological self-flagellation. Which means it will be both fun and good for you.
This will NOT be easy. Couldn't Halden have waited until after Easter--or put this earlier in Lent. It feels like extreme penance just during Holy Week!

ReplyDeleteRight now I imagine all the Princetonians are duking it out over who gets to do Barth!
My only way around the Princeton conundrum is to reverse the task: read a theologian who's work you despise in a charitable way. Tillich, you're up!

Well, Yoder was never much of a systematician/dogmatician and so much of his theology was implied--and seemed to be an Anabaptist modification of Barth.
