Emotionally what has been a blessing, for me, has been a husband who has taught me the meaning of love, a mother who has fought her demons all her life and continues to fight and friends (Christian and non-Christian) who support unconditionally.
God working hard through all these means.Pamelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05815263209123614682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261952.post-46775458432158099232010-05-18T14:59:41.224-04:002010-05-18T14:59:41.224-04:00For anyone who has had a family member who had mis...For anyone who has had a family member who had mistaken the robber for a friend, your sermon is a true blessing.Alain Epp Weaverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05355716383346439531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261952.post-2171219841410027732010-05-17T19:01:14.785-04:002010-05-17T19:01:14.785-04:00As someone who has attempted suicide, and still ex...As someone who has attempted suicide, and still experiences the effects of depression, this sermon really hit home.

You hit it on the head, especially the feelings of loneliness.

One of the better aspects of it is that it allows me to see the need for community, for solidarity, before the cross.

God Bless,
ShaneShanenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261952.post-71931589743643730992010-05-16T20:46:02.413-04:002010-05-16T20:46:02.413-04:00When my mother, Belle (now 77 yrs old) was 24, her...When my mother, Belle (now 77 yrs old) was 24, her father took his own life (by hanging). With her three year old son on her hip, it was Belle who found his body. So, Belle's life was taken too. And the impact has been felt by us all. I was born five years after my grandfather's death and so never had the chance to know him, only to see my mother's pain.Pamelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05815263209123614682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261952.post-39244979694344916192010-05-16T19:55:47.741-04:002010-05-16T19:55:47.741-04:00That's a powerful sermon, and I'm sorry to...That's a powerful sermon, and I'm sorry to say that I know what I'm talking about.Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01898073277524952683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261952.post-6086601426032608652010-05-16T16:43:18.522-04:002010-05-16T16:43:18.522-04:00And the conclusion of the poem, often called "...And the conclusion of the poem, often called "Nature's Bonfire" (though I cannot duplicate Hopkins' typography):

In a flash, at a trumpet crash,
I am all at once what Christ is, since he was what I am, and
This Jack, joke, poor potsherd, patch, matchwood, immortal diamond,
Is immortal diamond.kim fabriciusnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261952.post-81914130913975116202010-05-16T16:02:46.393-04:002010-05-16T16:02:46.393-04:00"A sad story?
