A parable

“To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? And with what shall I compare it? It is like a man who receives a new book in the mail, suddenly, and when he least expects it.”

  2. Unless it's from the Left Behind series - or contains a bill!

And what's with this "man" stuff? Inclusive language, please! Or are you suggesting that women aren't intelligent enough to read? How very dare you!:)

  3. By the way, I've got this wonderful postcard on my study mantlepiece that shows a stout bearded guy, clearly on a demonstration, holding a Bible in one hand and a placard in the other.

The placard reads: "GOD ALMIGHTY HATES BOOK LERNERS" [no, that's not a typo!] - followed by the completely irrelevant biblical references of Psalm 5:5, Psalm 11:5, and Amos 5:15.

    Priceless!

I'd love a scan of that postcard.

My colleague who teaches creative homiletics in our College has a T-Shirt which proclaims, 'Don't put words in my mouth', signed God.

I like the idea of a divinely inspired mispelling or typo which suggests innerrancy isn't infallible!
