For Short, <I>2001</I> is a celluloid example of atheist humanism, and he is quite critical of <I>Superman</I> - a <I>theologia gloriae</I> (though he doesn't use those words) - but he's wild about <I>E.T.</I> - "closer to Christ than the churches are."
